The measurement
One angle, measured against a neutral you set yourself.
There is no universal correct head position. It depends on your height, your desk and your screen. So Stature samples your own neutral once, then watches for movement away from it — and tells you the moment it happens, not hours later.
Upright
Your head is within eight degrees of the neutral you calibrated. Nothing fires. Most of a good working hour lives here.
Drifting
The slow creep toward the screen has started. The zone changes in the Dynamic Island, but you are not interrupted yet.
Slouching
A short haptic buzz on your iPhone. Quiet enough for a shared office or a call — nobody around you hears anything.
Honest limits
What it catches, and what it can't.
✓ Forward head drift
The pattern that builds over a long session — head creeping toward the screen, chin leading. This is exactly what a sensor in your ears can see, and it is the pattern most desk workers actually have.
✕ A slumped lower back
Your AirPods are not down there. If you collapse into the chair from the waist while keeping your head level, Stature reads that as normal. A back-worn sensor is the honest tool for that, and we would rather say so now than have you find out on day three.
Fourteen days
Awareness fades. The program is what makes it stick.
Sessions start almost absurdly short and lengthen as the habit forms, so the target moves with you instead of asking for a perfect hour on day one.
Five seconds at a time. Your body learns what neutral actually feels like.
Short sessions. Awareness starts arriving without effort.
Longer stretches, until sitting upright stops being a decision.
Maintenance. Passive monitoring continues in the background.
Compatibility
If it does head tracking, it does posture.
The sensor is already in there. The accelerometer and gyroscope that drive Spatial Audio head tracking are the same ones Stature reads. Nothing extra is switched on, which is why the battery cost is small.
Apple exposes them through CMHeadphoneMotionManager. Processing stays on your device.
